PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – (February 2, 2022) – For the last 20 years, veteran golf writer/broadcaster Tony Leodora has concluded an exhausting week of research at the PGA Show in Orlando by announcing “Tony’s Top Ten” – a list of products that caught his eye during golf’s business extravaganza.
This year – after a one-year pandemic-induced hiatus – the search required walking the miles of aisles at the mammoth Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, plus canvassing the more traditional avenues of e-mails, text messages and phone calls for products that debuted outside the convention center walls.
Fortunately, the search produced an extremely strong list of Top Ten products, as manufacturers took advantage of the golf boom to launch a number of innovative items.
“Whether companies debuted their new products at the PGA Show or on their own, it was great to see renewed enthusiasm in the golf industry,” said Leodora, who has attended the PGA Show every year since 1992. “They recognized the new passion players have found for the game of golf and responded with some eye-popping products.”
Tony’s Top Ten
Bridgestone – A leader in the golf ball wars of recent years, Bridgestone’s new Tour B line of golf balls features revolutionary new technology that provides a ball for two varying segments of the industry. The new reactive IQ cover produces more distance off the driver and more spin off wedges.
CertiFresh Cigar – The leader in producing individually wrapped, humidity-controlled cigars for golf courses has now developed Tubeaux – a minimal maintenance humidor and display unit that is specially made for golf shops. And, of course, they still offer a great selection of individually packaged and logoed cigars.
Copper Tech gloves – After producing a quality golf glove, interwoven with copper fiber to aid in blood circulation and pain relief for a number of years, Copper Tech has added two new, trendy gloves. The new USA glove is perfect for Ryder Cup or Olympics times. The camouflage glove appeals to the outdoors set.
Vale Putter by Bloodline – Greenkeepers, the Philadelphia-based manufacturing company has produced a number of successful golf accessories over the years. Now, they have gone a step further by producing their first high-performance putter. The Vale Putter by Bloodline stands on its own for alignment, and uses space age-polymers for more feel.
High Heat/Fujikura – The best driver and fairway woods and hybrids for the amateur golfer just got better. A marriage with Fujikura, the renowned shaft company, has resulted in a head/shaft combination that is especially designed for amateurs.
Nexbelt – The “belt with no holes” – Nexbelt – continues to bring new innovation and style to a product that already is a market leader. This year’s focus is on two new belts. The first is a Bison belt, made from 100 percent American bison. The second is the Cayman belt, part of their alligator line, but featuring striking accent colors.
Tour Edge Exotics C722 and E722 Drivers – Tour Edge Golf, the company that continually gains market share in the highly competitive equipment market, took the lead from last year’s successful C721 and E721 irons, created for different swing speeds. Now their C722 and E722 drivers have the same appeal.
Towel Tag – This is the ultimate tee gift for an outing, or promotional item. It is a combination pull-though towel and bag tag – each available to be logoed and personalized with the name of a golfer or a company. The quality is immediately visible, differentiating it from many other golf accessories.
TurfHound – Gone are the days of complaining about hitting off an artificial mat at the range. The TurfHound is a performance golf mat, used at more than 900 high-end golf clubs across the country. Made in the USA, the dual-density foam system replicates the feel of hitting off natural turf.
Wheel Pro Push Cart – The Zero Friction company has made its mark for years in the golf accessory business, now it steps out with an innovative new product. The Wheel Pro Push Cart is a one-of-a-kind golf bag that features a 3-in-1 design. It can be used as a stand bag, pop on wheels to make it a push cart, or remove the wheels to make it a bag for a motor cart.
