Some people think of Daytona Beach as the place where tourists drive their cars next to the ocean on the white sand. Others think of it as the roaring home of the Daytona 500 auto race.
But, after the February episode of the award-winning Traveling Golfer television show, they will think of it as another of the great golf destinations in the Sunshine State of Florida.
Popular golf courses such as Halifax Plantation, Victoria Hills and the two layouts at Daytona Beach GC are on display. Plus there is a special look at the famous Daytona International Speedway. And all of it comes from the spectacular view at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort.
Add some of the places to dine and a vibrant nightlife and it becomes plain to see why the Daytona Beach area was selected for the February episode of the Traveling Golfer.
“Daytona Beach has been known around the world as a favorite vacation destination for many years,” explains Kay Galloway, marketing director for the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Now, quality golf at an affordable price is another factor that adds to the allure of the area.”
The Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort adds another dimension to any golf vacation. Most of the 744 rooms are oceanfront, with stunning views of the most famous beach in the world. It also puts visitors within walking distance of shops, restaurants and live music venues.
“I was part of the crowd that came to Daytona Beach many times through the years for activities other than golf,” admits Tony Leodora, host of the Traveling Golfer television show. “In recent years the golf scene has matured and adapted to the festive atmosphere of the area. Think of it. Where else can you go and combine a spectacular beach, the NASCAR auto racing capital of the world and quality golf into one vacation?”

Responding to golfers’ never-ending demands to learn more about interesting golf courses and golf resorts across the country and around the world, well-traveled host Tony Leodora created the Traveling Golfer so he could take viewers on video trips to some of the most exciting golf locations. Four times in the last six years, the show has been honored as the No. 1 Golf Television Show in America in the prestigious International Network of Golf awards, presented at the PGA Merchandise Show.
The Traveling Golfer is a series of monthly shows hosted by Leodora, who has 20 years of experience in televised golf.
