Wachesaw East Golf Course, nestled in the heart of Murrells Inlet, SC and part of the prestigious Myrtle Beach Golf Trail, is undergoing significant changes that is drawing attention far and wide.

On the October edition of the Traveling Golfer, our crew takes you there so you can see what the golf course and the surrounding area offers so many visitors.

Wachesaw East was already known for its picturesque landscapes and challenging holes, but the golf course has undergone a series of massive upgrades, making it an even more enticing destination for golf enthusiasts.

Course Upgrades

As you will see, Director of Golf Mike Deluca takes me out for a round of golf while offering me a putting lesson on the tricky Par-4 1st hole.

You will notice the upgrades such as: reseeding and renovating fairways to improve turf quality; installing state-of-the-art irrigation systems for consistent course conditioning; and redesigning several greens to add more complexity and intrigue.  Additionally, the bunkers have been refined with premium sand, and the cart paths have been expanded and repaved, ensuring smoother navigation around the course.

In a bid to merge tradition with technology, Wachesaw East has introduced an advanced GPS-equipped golf cart system. This new technology provides golfers with real-time tracking, distance measurement, and digital scorekeeping, enhancing both convenience and competitive play. The clubhouse has also seen notable improvements, including expanded dining options, modernized locker rooms, and a newly built pro shop stocked with the latest golf gear and apparel.

Mike shows me that too.  We hit the restaurant/bar to enjoy some food and drink that is not your ordinary culinary or Mixology adventure.  Plus, you get to see the family like hospitality Wichita East extends.

Destination on the Rise

Murrells Inlet, affectionately known as the “Seafood Capital of South Carolina,” is also witnessing a surge in tourism and development. The booming Myrtle Beach area, famed for its sandy shores and vibrant entertainment, continues to be a favorite among vacationers and golf aficionados alike. The recent upgrades at Wachesaw East align perfectly with the region’s growth, adding to its allure as a premier golfing destination.

It is also a magnet for people looking to relocate, so they can have golf year-round.  Just take a look at the booming residential areas around Wachesaw East that is a sliver of what the region is experiencing.

And Wachesaw East Golf is ready. Mike and his staff plan to host more regional tournaments and community events to foster a vibrant golfing community. Collaborations with local resorts and businesses are also in the pipeline to create attractive golf vacation packages for tourists.
